A fully woke, very complex, Black woman. I don’t speak for Black women everywhere — just for myself. That distinction matters.
I'm Shirl.
I’ve spent 30 years in boardrooms and community spaces watching people dance around the truth. I helped Fortune 100 companies get their people to actually change. The irony is I spent years coaching organizations to speak plainly while I was still holding my own voice back.
Say It Lady is what happens when I stop doing that.
This is where I talk about Black life, politics, money, health, and the full complexity of living as a Black woman in America. Sometimes it will make you smile. Sometimes it will make you uncomfortable. Good.
My intentions are always to be kind, factual, and irreverent. Pull up a chair.
